Akola prices on DTDC's Maharashtra card in zone Z4 over the DNB service — the state card, not a city row of the kind Mumbai and Thane carry. Standard runs 3–4 days and, unusually, the road tier is only 5–6. A two-day gap between the columns makes this one of the few lanes where surface freight is the sensible default rather than the compromise.
DTDC bands Maharashtra outside the metros as one zone, so this is the state rate as it applies to Akola. Compare the two right-hand columns carefully — on this lane they are closer in time than almost anywhere else we book.

These are the DTDC rates for Maharashtra (zone Z4) — the same card applies across the state. Billed weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000). Surface and heavier air slabs carry a 3 kg minimum. Full rate card and how billing works →
Most of our advice on long lanes is a warning about surface freight. Akola is the exception. Road delivery quotes five to six days where air quotes three to four, so the choice costs you about two days rather than the better part of a week — and the price difference is the same as it would be on a far slower lane. At 5 kg that is ₹807 by road against ₹1,383 by air; at 15 kg, ₹2,421 against ₹3,889; at 50 kg, ₹8,072 against ₹12,962. For cotton-belt trade cartons and anything that is not personally awaited, road is where we would put it.
The exception to the exception is small parcels. The road column charges from a three-kilo floor, so a one-kilo box books at ₹484 while the air tier carries it for ₹415 and arrives sooner. Under three kilos there is simply no argument for it.
Premium deserves a plain statement rather than a sales line: on this card it commits to three days against Standard’s three to four, and asks ₹813 for a kilo where Standard asks ₹415. That is double the fare for, at best, one day — and there are heavier slabs where Premium is not published at all, the column ending at 25 kg. We will book it, but we will usually suggest you do not.
Documents run on two scales here. The ordinary column opens at ₹242 for 500 g and reads ₹415, ₹761 and ₹1,106 at one, two and three kilos; the express column charges ₹496 through ₹2,080 across the same weights. Paperwork with no deadline belongs on the ordinary line — half a kilo of it costs less than the ₹415 a one-kilo parcel would, so there is no sense in booking paper as a parcel. The single reversal is at three kilos, where a Standard parcel at ₹830 undercuts the ₹1,106 document slab.
The 444 block covers the town and the tehsil headquarters around it. For an address deeper in the district, send us the pincode and we will confirm the delivery point.

Three to four on Standard, three on Premium and five to six by road — an unusually narrow spread for a lane of this length.
Above three kilos, usually yes. The saving is large and the delay is only about two days. Below three kilos, no — the minimum charge makes road dearer than air.
₹415 by air on Standard and ₹813 on Premium. The road column shows ₹484 because it bills three kilos as a minimum.
No. It books on the Maharashtra state card in Z4, while cities like Mumbai and Thane carry separate rows of their own.
The ordinary one at ₹242 for 500 g, unless the paperwork has a date on it — then express at ₹496. Both are printed on the Maharashtra card.
Yes, and there is no extra charge for it. Tell us how many and roughly how heavy so we send a suitable vehicle.
Give us the weight and we will read out both columns before anything is booked, so the two-day question stays yours to answer. Collection in Bangalore is free.
