Courier from Bangalore to Guwahati

Assam sits in Z5, the outermost zone on our card, and Guwahati is priced from that state-wide row rather than a city rate of its own. Everything on this page applies equally to the rest of Assam.

The tier choice here is unusually stark. Standard runs three to four days by air. Surface runs nine to ten — it is a road haul across the whole subcontinent and then up the Siliguri corridor, and it behaves accordingly.

The slow option here is not automatically the cheap one, which catches people out. A single kilo costs ₹674 by Surface and only ₹553 by air, because Surface charges a 3 kg minimum. So for anything light, Surface is worse on both counts: dearer and roughly a week slower. The road option only starts repaying the wait around 5 kg, where it is ₹1,123 against ₹1,843, and at 10 kg where ₹2,247 sits against ₹3,400. Even then, ask yourself whether ten days is acceptable before you book it.

Premium is scheduled at three days against Standard three-to-four, so the gain is marginal for parcels. Note also that the Assam card tops Premium out at 25 kg — heavier air consignments are quoted per shipment.

One more quirk worth knowing: on the Assam card the Standard document scale has no 500 g row — at half a kilo the Premium document line is the only thing offered, at ₹496. Standard documents open at 1 kg instead, ₹553 against ₹813 on Premium. So a couple of sheets go Premium because nothing else exists at that weight; a real file goes Standard from a kilo up.
