Ratlam takes DTDC's Madhya Pradesh card, Z4 on the DNG service. Standard is 4–5 days and road freight 6–7 — the narrowest gap between air and road on any of our northern lanes, which changes the usual advice completely.

What Ratlam is charged

These are DTDC's published rates for Madhya Pradesh, Z4 band. Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Ujjain have city rows of their own; Ratlam is priced from the state card, and that is how we quote it.

These are the DTDC rates for Madhya Pradesh (zone Z4) — the same card applies across the state. Billed weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000). Surface and heavier air slabs carry a 3 kg minimum. Full rate card and how billing works →

This lane inverts the advice that holds almost everywhere else on the site.

Air is slow into western Madhya Pradesh. Standard is published at 4–5 days, and Premium at 4 — one day at the outside, for ₹813 against ₹415 on the first kilogram. On most routes we describe Premium as expensive certainty; here it is close to no gain at all, and we say so before anyone pays for it.

Meanwhile road is only 6–7 days. That is a two-day penalty against Standard, not the four or five days road costs on the eastern lanes. So the moment a consignment clears the 3 kg surface floor of ₹484, the road tier becomes the reasonable default rather than the fallback: ₹807 against ₹1,383 at 5 kg, ₹1,614 against ₹2,593 at 10 kg, ₹4,036 against ₹6,481 at 25 kg, and ₹8,072 against ₹12,962 on a full 50 kg booking. Nearly ₹4,900 saved for two extra days.

Below three kilos, air still wins on both counts — ₹415 beats the ₹484 minimum and lands sooner. That is the whole decision on this lane: light goes by air, everything else goes by road, and Premium is for the rare consignment tied to a date.

Paperwork has both columns. The ordinary document rate opens at ₹242 for 500 g and the express one at ₹496 for the same envelope — double, for a day at best, which is the parcel argument all over again. What does change with weight is which table to use: at a kilogram the document and parcel rates meet exactly at ₹415, and by three kilos the ₹830 parcel slab undercuts the ₹1,106 document row. Light paper on the document card, a thick file as a parcel.

What people ask

Should I pay for Premium?

Almost never here. Premium commits to 4 days where Standard is 4–5, at ₹813 against ₹415 on the first kilo.

Is road much slower?

Only by about two days — 6–7 against 4–5. That is why we recommend it above 3 kg on this lane where we would not elsewhere.

What does 25 kg cost?

₹4,036 by road or ₹6,481 by air. The saving is ₹2,445 for two extra days.

Why does a 1 kg box cost more by road?

Because surface bills from a 3 kg minimum of ₹484, while Standard carries one kilogram for ₹415.

Is this rate specific to Ratlam?

No — it is the Madhya Pradesh state band. Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain have their own rows; Ratlam does not, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Do you collect from outside the city?

Collection is free anywhere within Bangalore. Tell us the address and a time and we will be there.
