This is as far as our card reaches. Srinagar prices in Z5, the outermost band, on the DNG service, and even the air tier is quoted at 5–6 days. It is a low-volume lane for us — one consignment so far on our DTDC account — so we book it strictly off the sheet and set expectations to match.

Rates for Srinagar (pincode 190010), DTDC service DNG. Billed weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000). Surface and heavier air slabs carry a 3 kg minimum. Full rate card and how billing works →

Everything about this lane follows from one fact: Z5 is the last band on the card. The opening kilogram is ₹553, ten kilograms ₹3,400, and the air service commits to 5–6 days rather than the two or three a mainland city gets. Nothing we can do at the counter changes that, and we would rather you knew it before booking than after.

The document card starts high, and there is a way around it. For Srinagar the standard paper row has no half-kilo entry at all — it opens at a full kilogram for ₹553. The express document service does cover 500 g, at ₹496. A single envelope is therefore cheaper on the faster product, which is the reverse of what anyone expects. Ask for it by name when you book a light document.

Road freight is for weight and nothing else. It runs 8–9 days and charges a flat ₹674 to its three-kilogram floor, which is above the ₹553 air rate for one kilo. From ten kilograms it starts to earn its keep — ₹2,247 against ₹3,400 — and at fifty it is ₹11,237 against ₹17,000, a saving of ₹5,763. If those days are genuinely available, that is a real amount of money.

The express parcel tier is a narrow buy. It is quoted at 5 days against Standard’s 5–6, at ₹813 for the first kilogram and ₹3,348 at five. One day, sometimes none, for a large premium. We will book it, but we will not pretend the arithmetic is good.

What people ask about this lane

How long does Srinagar take?

Five to six days on the Standard air service, five on the express tier, eight to nine by road.

Why does it cost more than other northern cities?

It sits in Z5, DTDC's outermost band. The distance is priced into the card and there is no rate below it.

What is the cheapest way to send one document?

The express document row at ₹496 for 500 g. The standard document card for this destination has no 500 g entry — it begins at ₹553 for a kilogram.

What does a one-kilogram parcel cost?

₹553 by air, ₹813 on the express tier, ₹674 by road. Tax is inside all three.

Is the road option ever the cheaper one?

From ten kilograms upward, clearly — ₹2,247 against ₹3,400, and ₹11,237 against ₹17,000 at fifty. Under three kilograms it is dearer than air and three days slower.

Do you deliver beyond Srinagar city?

We book to district addresses across the valley, priced on their own rows. Outlying pincodes can run past the city transit, so tell us where it is going.

Is pickup charged extra on a lane this long?

No. Pickup happens in Bangalore, so it is free at any weight, exactly as on every other route.
