Kuwait is one of two Gulf states that has still not introduced VAT, so the tax layer other destinations add on arrival does not exist here. That declaration is the whole job. Every consignment leaves Bengaluru with your KYC (Aadhaar or PAN), an itemised commercial invoice listing each item, its quantity and a realistic value, and the recipient’s full details. Kuwait addressing leans on PO Box numbers rather than street delivery, and the recipient’s Civil ID number is routinely asked for at clearance — collect both before you book, not after the parcel has landed.
Writing “gift — ₹500” over a box of clothing and electronics is the single most common way a Kuwait shipment goes wrong. Under-declaring does not save duty; it gets the consignment held for examination, revalued by the officer, and sometimes returned at the sender’s cost. Declare it accurately and most personal parcels move without drama.
Kuwait’s prohibitions are stricter than most and worth knowing before you pack. Alcohol is banned outright — there is no allowance, no exception for a sealed gift bottle, and the consequences fall on the recipient. Pork and pork-derived ingredients are also banned, which means reading the ingredient list on packaged food and capsules rather than assuming.
