Courier from Bangalore to the Netherlands

Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Delft, Utrecht, Groningen — Dutch-bound documents, family parcels and samples are booked here in HSR Layout and handed to DTDC for the overseas leg. We publish no international price list, because we do not have one to publish. Tell us the weight, the size and the contents and you get a number for that shipment.

Address it precisely, declare it accurately

Get the Dutch address right and half the risk on this route disappears. A Dutch postcode is four digits followed by two letters, and that code together with the house number identifies a front door on its own — street and town are effectively confirmation. Send us both, plus any house-number suffix, and a mobile number. Vague addressing causes more failed Dutch deliveries than customs ever does.

Clearance itself follows the Union’s rules, which the Netherlands administers through the Douane arm of the tax administration. That means the tariff and the import formalities are the same ones a parcel would meet in Antwerp or Frankfurt; what is Dutch is the rate. Import BTW is 21%, dropping to 9% on books and most foodstuffs. Duty is generally not levied where the goods are worth less than €150, and an occasional private gift between individuals is spared duty and tax up to €45. Everything else is taxable from the first euro — the EU scrapped the small-consignment VAT exemption in 2021.

The Kingdom is larger than the country. Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba are Dutch but lie outside the EU customs and VAT territory, and Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten are separate countries within the Kingdom, also outside the EU. A parcel to Kralendijk or Willemstad is not a parcel to Utrecht in customs terms. Say where it is going when you book.

On our side we take standard KYC — Aadhaar or PAN — and write an itemised invoice with you: every article, the quantity, and a value you can stand behind. Declaring a laptop as a “gift, ₹500” does not save anyone money. It gets the carton opened, the value reset by an officer, and the delay landed on the person waiting in the Netherlands.

Who sends on this route

What goes from Bangalore to the Netherlands

University and immigration files

Apostilled degrees, transcripts, birth certificates and employment papers for people moving to study or take up work in the Netherlands. Envelopes are the simplest international shipment there is — no value to reassess, no contents to inspect.

Parcels to students and family

Winter clothing, books, sealed snacks and factory-packed spice mixes to a student room or a family flat. Student housing takes the address seriously: give us the postcode, the house number and any letter suffix, or the courier ends up phoning for directions.

Technical samples and spares

Instrument parts, prototypes and component samples from Bengaluru firms to Dutch buyers and labs. These need a commercial invoice with quantities, real values and a classifiable description, plus the consignee's EORI number — all of which we prepare at the counter.

FAQs

Bangalore to the Netherlands — common questions

Why is there no rate on this page?

Because we hold no international rate card and refuse to invent one. Our Indian rates are DTDC's published card and every figure is on the site. For the Netherlands we quote per consignment, once we know the destination, the chargeable weight and what is inside.

How long will it take to Amsterdam?

We do not have verified transit data for this lane, so we print no figure. When you book, the service you pick carries its own commitment and we will tell you what it is.

Who actually carries it?

DTDC. We book into their overseas network as an authorised DTDC partner — the shipment travels on a genuine DTDC air waybill and tracks at dtdc.com.

Can I send home-cooked food or ghee?

No on both counts. Ghee and anything else that can leak is refused by us on every route, and foods of animal origin are barred from personal parcels entering the EU regardless of who is carrying them. Factory-sealed dry snacks with printed ingredients are fine.

Will the recipient be charged?

They may be. BTW at 21% applies to the declared goods value, and duty as well once the consignment exceeds €150. A genuine occasional gift under €45 between private individuals escapes both. The assessment is Dutch customs', not ours, and we will not promise you an outcome we do not decide.

The address I have is just a street and city. Is that enough?

Not really. Ask for the postcode and house number — in the Netherlands that pair is the address, and supplying it is the cheapest insurance against a failed delivery you can buy.
