Documents and parcels from our HSR Layout counter to Doha and the rest of Qatar, booked on a DTDC air waybill. This is a short page because Qatar is a short subject: the country has no VAT, a modest Gulf tariff, a strict prohibited list, and an addressing system with no postal codes. Those four facts cover almost everything a sender needs.

What actually decides whether a Doha parcel clears
Qatar applies the Gulf common external tariff, generally 5% on most consumer goods, assessed
on the value of the shipment including freight. Unlike its neighbours, Qatar has not introduced
VAT, so there is no consumption tax layered on top at import. There is a low-value exemption
below which personal consignments are not assessed, but because that figure has been revised
over the years we do not print it here — if a charge arises, customs bills the recipient
directly and we cannot waive it.
Clearance is handled against the person receiving the parcel, and customs will often ask for
the recipient’s Qatar ID number together with a local mobile. Collect both before you send.
Qatar does not use postal codes. Addresses are built from a zone number, a street number
and a building number — the system used across Doha and the wider country — supported by the
area name and a landmark where one helps. Without a working Qatar mobile number, none of it is
much use: the courier will call before delivering.
The prohibitions are the Gulf list, applied firmly. Alcohol and pork products are banned
outright. Non-Islamic religious literature in quantity, material conflicting with Qatari
decency rules, e-cigarettes and vaping devices, and medicines beyond ordinary personal quantity
are all restricted. Dry, sealed, commercially packaged vegetarian food is the only food category
worth attempting.
As with every international consignment we book, the invoice must list each item honestly with a
real value. Under-declaring is not a saving. It invites revaluation and penalty, delays the
parcel while the recipient sorts it out, and leaves nothing to claim against if the shipment is
lost.

Who sends this way
What this route usually carries
Employment and residency documents
Certificates, attested paperwork and originals for people working in Qatar or in the middle of a visa process. Documents raise no customs questions of substance — the only thing that matters is an address and a phone number that work.
Family parcels
Clothes, sealed snacks, spices and small household items to relatives in Doha and the industrial areas. The Qatar ID number and mobile are what keep these moving; the contents rarely cause trouble if the restricted list is respected.
Documents and samples for business
Signed contracts, originals and small product samples to Qatari counterparts. Declared honestly on a commercial invoice, with a description customs can classify.
FAQs
Bangalore to Qatar — common questions
What does it cost to send a parcel to Doha?
We quote each international consignment individually and publish no international rate card. We hold no card that would stay accurate, and printing a number we cannot honour is the one thing this counter will not do. Tell us the weight, the dimensions and the contents and you will have a firm price before collection.
Who carries it?
DTDC. We book as an authorised DTDC partner, on a genuine DTDC air waybill, into DTDC's overseas network.
Will the recipient pay tax?
There is no VAT in Qatar. Customs duty of around 5% may be assessed on the value of the goods above the low-value exemption, and if it is, customs bills the recipient.
What address do you need for Qatar?
Zone number, street number, building number, the area name, and a Qatar mobile number. Qatar does not use postal codes, so those numbers and the phone are what the courier works from.
How long does delivery take?
We do not print transit figures we cannot back with our own records. At booking we tell you the commitment your shipment is given and give you the air waybill to follow.
Can I send perfume or attar?
No. Liquids of every kind, perfume included, are outside what we book.
