Courier rates from Bangalore — DTDC card rates, GST included

Every price on this site is DTDC’s published card rate for our Bengaluru counter (560102, BF3202). We do not mark it up, and we do not quote differently depending on who is asking. The number on a destination page is the number you pay.

All rates already include 18% GST and all fuel and service surcharges. There is nothing added at the counter.

The three tiers

DTDC sells three genuinely different products out of Bangalore, and picking the right one matters more than haggling over the price.

Standard moves by air on most lanes and is what the majority of shipments use. On metro destinations it clears in 1–2 days.

Premium is the same air network with a faster commitment — typically one day where Standard takes two. It costs substantially more. It is worth it for documents with a real deadline and rarely worth it otherwise.

Surface is road freight. It is the cheapest option by a wide margin on anything heavy, and the slowest — often four to eight days depending on distance. Below about 5 kg the minimum charge cancels out most of the saving.

Not every destination offers all three. Some far and north-eastern destinations are Premium-only, and a few are not on the standard card at all. Each destination page states what is actually available on that lane rather than assuming.

The five zones

Price is driven by which zone a destination falls in, not by distance in kilometres.

Some cities carry their own rate rather than their state’s — Mumbai is priced as a Z3 metro even though the rest of Maharashtra is Z4. Destination pages use the city rate wherever DTDC publishes one.

Weight slabs, not per-kilo

Rates are quoted per slab, not per kilogram. Parcels are priced at 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 kg; documents at 500 g, 1, 2 and 3 kg. A shipment is charged at the next slab up, so a 4 kg parcel pays the 5 kg rate.

This is why a flat “₹X per kg” figure is misleading, and why we stopped quoting one. On most lanes it understates the real cost considerably.

Volumetric weight

Billed weight is whichever is greater — actual weight, or volumetric weight:

length × width × height, in centimetres, divided by 5000.

A 40 × 30 × 30 cm box works out to 7.2 kg volumetric. If it actually weighs 4 kg, you are billed on 7.2 and pay the 10 kg slab. Large light items — pillows, lampshades, packed clothing — are almost always billed on volume. Pack tight.

Minimum charges

Surface has a 3 kg minimum, so 1 kg and 3 kg cost the same. Above 5 kg on non-documents the standard air product changes to AC1, which also carries a 3 kg minimum. Premium drops out entirely at the heaviest slabs on some lanes and is replaced by a quoted RPL rate.

What we will not carry

Liquids, syrups, oils, gels, perfumes and aerosols are prohibited on every lane. This is not a preference — DTDC will not accept them, so neither can we. Sealed dry food, packaged snacks and prescription tablets in original packaging are all fine.

Also excluded: cash, jewellery, hazardous goods, and anything requiring a cold chain.

Pickup

Pickup is free anywhere in Bengaluru, at any hour, on any weight. We bring bubble wrap and a rated box if you would rather not pack it yourself. There is no minimum order value and no charge for collection.

Rates are reviewed against DTDC’s card whenever it changes. If you find a figure on this site that does not match what we quote at the counter, tell us — the site is wrong and we will fix it.
