Two of DTDC's three products move by air out of Bangalore: Standard, which most shipments use, and Premium, which buys a firmer commitment for roughly double. This page is about choosing between them — and about when neither is worth it.
We are an authorised DTDC booking partner, so air freight here means DTDC’s air-moved products, not a separate charter or a cargo consolidation desk. That is worth stating plainly, because it sets the boundaries of what this service can and cannot do.
Standard already flies on most lanes. It is why a 1 kg parcel reaches Delhi or Mumbai in one to two days for ₹363 rather than the four to five days a road booking takes. If your deadline is “this week”, Standard is air freight and you do not need to pay for anything faster.
Premium is the same network with a tighter commitment. It is genuinely next day to Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and the rest of NCR. On most other lanes it saves one day against Standard, and on Karnataka lanes — Mysuru, Mangaluru, Belagavi, Udupi, Hospet — it saves nothing at all: Premium is two days there while Standard is one to two, at more than double the price. We will tell you that rather than sell you the upgrade.
Air rules out some cargo entirely. Liquids, syrups, oils, gels, perfumes and aerosols are prohibited, as is anything requiring a cold chain — no vaccines, no chilled or frozen goods, no fresh produce that depends on temperature. Sealed dry goods, machine parts, documents and packaged food are all fine.
Premium is the tier you buy when the date is fixed. Standard flies too, and costs considerably less — the full ladder for both is on each destination page.

GST included. Premium is not sold on every lane, and it drops out entirely at the heaviest slabs on many destinations, where it is replaced by a quoted rate.

A 500 g document is ₹219 to Delhi on Standard and ₹432 on Premium — the one case where doubling the price for a day is usually right.

No. It is genuinely next day to Delhi and NCR. Across the southern states and within Karnataka it is often the same speed as Standard or one day quicker, for roughly double the money. Each destination page publishes both transit times side by side.
Often, yes. On Karnataka, southern and metro lanes the 15 kg Premium slab costs only 8–14% more than the 10 kg slab — ₹3,688 against ₹4,063 across the south. On many northern and western lanes the same step is around 50% more, so check the lane rather than assuming.
No. Nothing requiring a cold chain goes on this network — no vaccines, chilled goods or frozen items. Sealed dry food with a reasonable shelf life is fine on Standard.
We book them through DTDC's overseas network, but hold no published international rate card, so each consignment is quoted once we know the destination, weight and contents. Customs paperwork, KYC and an itemised invoice are required on every international booking.
