How a domestic booking is actually priced

Domestic courier is the bulk of what crosses our counter — a few sheets of paper to Mysuru, a 25 kg carton to Ahmedabad, and most things in between.

There is no flat per-kilo rate. DTDC prices a shipment on two things: which zone the destination falls in, and which weight slab your parcel lands in. For a 1 kg parcel on Standard, the zone ladder is ₹150 within Bangalore, ₹196 elsewhere in Karnataka, ₹236 across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Goa, ₹363 to Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, ₹415 to Gurgaon, Faridabad and the rest of India, and ₹553 to the north-east, J&K, Himachal and the Andamans. Every one of those already includes 18% GST.

Parcel slabs run 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 kg and you pay the next slab up, so a 4 kg box is billed at 5 kg and a 3.2 kg box is billed at 5 kg too. That is the single most common reason a quote surprises people. Billed weight is also whichever is greater — actual, or length × width × height in cm ÷ 5000 — so a large light box is priced on its volume.

The rate page sets out slabs, volumetric weight and minimum charges in full, and each destination page carries the whole ladder for that lane — including which tiers exist there, since a few destinations are Premium-only and a handful are quoted per shipment.

Domestic tiers

The three tiers, and what they cost

Figures below are the entry slab for each tier, spanning the cheapest zone to the dearest. Your destination's exact ladder is on its own page.

ServiceRateTransit
Standard parcel — first 1 kg₹150 – ₹5531–2 days to metros, up to 5–6 days
Premium parcel — first 1 kg₹415 – ₹813Next day to Delhi & NCR, 2–3 days on most lanes
Surface — first 3 kg₹259 – ₹6743–4 days south, 6–7 days across most of India
Standard document — 500 g₹104 – ₹242Moves with Standard
Premium document — 500 g₹403 – ₹496Moves with Premium

All figures include 18% GST. Premium is not offered on every lane, and Premium documents are not sold on Karnataka lanes. Surface carries a 3 kg minimum, so 1 kg and 3 kg cost the same.

Who books this

What goes out on domestic lanes

Sellers dispatching orders

Single parcels in the 1–5 kg range, where Standard's air routing beats the buyer's patience.

Offices and paperwork

Under 500 g, paper prices on the document ladder, which is cheaper than the parcel one.

Families sending things home

Clothes, sealed dry snacks, gifts. Almost always volumetric — pack tight and you drop a slab.

Spares and samples

Small parts where the machine is down. This is the case Premium exists for.

FAQs

Questions people ask

What does it cost to send 1 kg from Bangalore?

It depends on the destination zone: ₹150 within Bangalore, ₹196 to the rest of Karnataka, ₹236 across the southern states, ₹363 to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, ₹415 to NCR and the rest of India, ₹553 to the north-east and J&K. All GST-inclusive. Why there is no single per-kilo number.

Why did my 3.5 kg parcel get billed at 5 kg?

Slabs are 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 kg and you pay the next one up. If you are close to a slab edge it is usually worth adding to the box rather than shaving it.

Standard, Premium or Surface?

At 1 kg, Standard is cheaper than Surface on every zone because Surface has a 3 kg minimum; from 3 kg up Surface wins and the gap widens — the arithmetic is here. Premium is worth it for a real deadline to Delhi or NCR, and buys little on Karnataka lanes.

Do you charge for pickup?

No. Collection anywhere in Bengaluru is free, at any hour, on any weight, with no minimum order value. Call or WhatsApp 9164995001.

What will you not carry?

Liquids, syrups, oils, gels, perfumes and aerosols are prohibited on every lane, as are cash, jewellery, hazardous goods and anything needing a cold chain. Sealed dry food and tablets in original packaging are fine.
