Agartala is a Z5 destination on the DRB service — the dearest band on our card at ₹553 for the first kilo — but the air transit is 2–3 days, as quick as anything we send south. Road freight, by contrast, is quoted at 12–13 days. On this lane the two tiers are barely the same service.
Tripura sits in the highest zone DTDC prices for us, and this is the sheet exactly as issued — quoted against pincode 799006 on the DRB service, tax included.

Two facts define this route, and they pull in opposite directions.
The first is price. Tripura is Z5, the top band, so ₹553 buys the first kilo where ₹236 would do it into Telangana. Above five kilos the card settles into a flat ₹340 a kilo — ₹1,700 at five, ₹3,400 at ten, ₹8,500 at 25 — which at least makes budgeting simple.
The second is speed, and it is better than the distance suggests: 2–3 days on standard. The Northeast is not a slow destination by air. It is a slow one by road, and dramatically so — surface is 12–13 days. That option exists for weight that genuinely cannot justify the air fare: ₹2,247 against ₹3,400 at ten kilos, ₹5,619 against ₹8,500 at 25. You are trading about a third of the cost for a fortnight, and most customers on this lane decide it is not worth it.
Premium is ₹813 for a kilo with a 2-day commitment. That is the one tier where the usual advice reverses: it is only ₹260 above standard on a single kilo, so if a date matters it is a modest premium to pay. Beyond a kilo the gap widens sharply — ₹2,080 against ₹1,020 at three kilos — and it stops being sensible.
Documents need care here. The standard document line starts at one kilo (₹553); there is no 500 g slab on it. The premium document rate does cover 500 g, at ₹496 — which means for a light envelope the premium service is both faster and cheaper than the standard one. That is unusual, and it is the single most useful thing to know before you book paperwork to Agartala.
The city runs through the 7990xx series and the card quotes this lane against 799006. Outlying Tripura towns are confirmed against the sheet before booking.
