Coimbatore falls in zone Z2 — the second band out from Bangalore — and moves on DTDC's DZB service in 2–3 days. It is close enough that road freight trails the air product by only a day, which makes this one of the cheapest lanes we book. Five consignments have gone to Coimbatore on our account.

Short lanes behave differently from long ones, and Coimbatore is the clearest example we book. Standard takes 2–3 days. Road freight takes 3–4. One day separates them. On a lane to the north that gap would be four or five days, and the choice would be obvious; here it is genuinely a toss-up, decided almost entirely by weight.
Under 3 kg, ignore road freight. A single kilogram is ₹236 on Standard against ₹311 by road — the road tier bills a 3 kg minimum, so a light box pays for weight it does not have. Standard is both quicker and cheaper, which does not happen often.
At exactly 3 kg the ranking inverts: ₹311 by road, ₹519 on Standard. Ten kilograms comes to ₹1,037 by road against ₹1,729 on Standard. For one extra day, a 10 kg carton saves ₹692. Above 3 kg there is very little argument for paying air rates on this lane unless the contents are genuinely time-critical.
Premium exists and runs at two days, but it charges ₹576 for the first kilogram where Standard charges ₹236 — a lot of money to shave a day off an already short route. We recommend it only when a document has to be in someone’s hands the day after tomorrow, no exceptions.
