Haldia is priced off DTDC West Bengal card, zone Z4, service DNG. Air clears it in two to three days — quick for a town this far down the estuary — while road freight takes six to seven. That four-day spread is the widest choice you will make on this lane.

The card for Bangalore → Haldia

These are DTDC's published rates for West Bengal. Haldia has no separate row of its own, so the state slabs are what govern the booking — and we would rather say that than dress it up as a Haldia-only price.

These are the DTDC rates for West Bengal (zone Z4) — the same card applies across the state. Billed weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000). Surface and heavier air slabs carry a 3 kg minimum. Full rate card and how billing works →

Haldia sits at the mouth of the Hooghly, about 120 km downriver from Kolkata, and it is a working port town — docks, a refinery, petrochemicals and the workshops that feed them. On DTDC routing it is a Z4 destination on the DNG service, priced off the West Bengal card.

Air is 2–3 days, as fast as this zone gets, while road freight is 6–7 days. Almost a week separates the tiers, so saving money here is a real decision rather than a formality: on slower lanes road freight is easy to accept because air is barely quicker, and that argument does not hold here.

What the money looks like: a kilogram is ₹415 by air and ₹484 by road, which means small parcels have no reason to go by road at all — the road tier bills a three-kilogram minimum, so a 500 g box costs the same ₹484 as a 3 kg one. Heavier is a different story: twenty-five kilos is ₹4,036 on the road against ₹6,481 in the air, nearly ₹2,450 saved for four extra days. Premium promises two days at ₹813 a kilo while Standard is already doing two to three, so it buys one day at best for twice the fare.

Questions this route raises

How quick is it?

Two to three days by air on Standard, two on Premium, six to seven if it goes by road. The air and road tiers are about four days apart.

Is Premium worth ₹813 a kilogram?

Rarely here. Standard already delivers in two to three days for ₹415, so Premium is buying a single day at the outside for double the money.

Why is road freight more expensive than air at 1 kg?

Because the road tier starts billing at three kilograms. Anything under that weight is charged ₹484 regardless, while the air tier charges ₹415 and arrives days sooner.

Is this rate specific to Haldia?

No. It is the West Bengal zone rate, which is what DTDC charges for this destination — we are not going to present it as something it is not.

Can Premium take a 50 kg consignment?

Not on this card — the Premium column stops at 25 kg. For heavier loads it is Standard at ₹12,962 or road at ₹8,072 for fifty kilos.
