Sasaram is a Grand Trunk Road town in Rohtas, nearer Varanasi than Patna, and DTDC prices it from the Bihar card at zone Z4 on the DNB service. Standard delivers in 2–3 days; the road column on the same sheet takes 7–8.
This is the Bihar state table, not a Sasaram-only rate, and we say so because the difference matters if you are comparing quotes. Nothing is marked up between the card and your bill.

These are the DTDC rates for Bihar (zone Z4) — the same card applies across the state. Billed weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 5000). Surface and heavier air slabs carry a 3 kg minimum. Full rate card and how billing works →
Sasaram sits where the Grand Trunk Road meets the Kaimur hills, roughly midway between Patna and Varanasi. None of that geography reaches the pricing — DTDC zones the whole of Bihar at Z4 and carries it on the DNB product, so this is a state rate applied to a district town.
The Standard column is worth reading as a price per kilogram rather than a price per parcel. One kilo is ₹415; the three and five kilogram slabs work out at about ₹277 a kilo (₹830 and ₹1,383); from ten kilograms upward it settles near ₹259 a kilo (₹2,593 at ten, ₹12,962 at fifty). The practical consequence is that four separate one-kilo parcels cost far more than one four-kilo box. If you are sending several things to the same address in Sasaram, send them together.
The road column is a different product with a different clock: 7–8 days against the air tier’s two to three. Its first slab is flat — anything up to three kilograms is ₹484 — which makes it pointless for a light parcel, since Standard does the same kilogram for ₹415 and does it five days sooner. Its case is bulk and patience: ₹2,421 at fifteen kilos against ₹3,889, ₹4,036 at twenty-five against ₹6,481.
Premium costs ₹813 for one kilogram and firms the window up to two days. Documents sit on both columns: ₹242 for 500 g on the ordinary one and ₹496 on that Premium column. Paperwork is genuinely the cheap thing to send here, as long as you are not paying for a commitment nobody asked for.
Sasaram runs through the 8211xx block. Dehri, Bikramganj and the rest of Rohtas are priced from the same state card.

Two to three days on the Standard air tier, two on Premium. Road freight is seven to eight days.
One large one, clearly. Standard charges about ₹277 a kilo at the three and five kilo slabs, so two 1 kg parcels at ₹415 each cost more than a single 3 kg box at ₹830.
₹484 for anything up to three kilograms, ₹1,614 at ten, ₹4,036 at twenty-five. It only makes sense above three kilos and only if a week is acceptable.
No. It is DTDC's Bihar card at Z4, which covers Dehri, Bikramganj and every other town in the state the same way.
On either column — ₹242 for 500 g on the ordinary one, ₹496 on the Premium one. Unless the date is fixed, book the ordinary column.
Actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric is length × breadth × height in cm divided by 5000.
