Thailand Booked through DTDC's international network

Courier from Bangalore to Thailand

Thailand goes out on a genuine DTDC air waybill through the overseas network our partnership gives us access to. Pricing is worked out per shipment — there is no international card behind this site, so nothing here is quoted by the kilo. What is worth reading before you pack is that Thailand lets genuinely low-value parcels through free of tax, and bans one category outright that people send without thinking.

Low-value relief, 7% VAT, and one outright ban

Thailand applies a low-value exemption: consignments whose customs value falls under a modest threshold — long set at THB 1,500 on a CIF basis — clear without duty or VAT. Above it, the recipient pays import duty at the tariff rate for the goods plus VAT, which stands at 7%. This is why an honest, itemised invoice is worth the two minutes it takes to write: a parcel declared line by line at a realistic value is assessed on what it actually contains, while a vague “gift” declaration invites Thai customs to value it themselves.

The ban worth naming is e-cigarettes and vaping devices. Thailand prohibits their import outright, and the prohibition covers the devices, the liquids and the parts. People send them to friends and family there without realising, and the outcome is seizure rather than a fine at the counter. We will not book them.

Medicines and health supplements are regulated by the Thai FDA. Tablets in original labelled packaging in an obviously personal quantity, declared, are the reasonable case; a bulk quantity of supplements or anything that looks like stock for resale is not, and will be treated as a commercial import needing registration.

Food follows the same logic as everywhere else we ship: sealed, factory-packed dry items with a printed ingredient list travel; meat, dairy, fresh produce, plants and seeds do not. Thailand’s agricultural quarantine is real and applies to parcels.

Duty and VAT are assessed in Thailand and paid by the recipient. We cannot pre-pay them from Bangalore and we will not print an estimate of them here.

What goes on this lane

What people send Bangalore → Thailand

Documents to regional offices

Bangkok is a regional headquarters city for a lot of companies, and signed agreements, corporate papers and certificates make up a steady share of what we book there. Light, quick to document, nothing to assess.

Family and student parcels

Clothes, sealed snacks and books to relatives and students. Keep the declared value modest and honest — under Thailand's low-value threshold there is nothing to pay, and an itemised list is what gets you assessed on that basis.

Trade samples

Small samples to buyers and distributors. These usually sit above the exemption, so expect duty plus 7% VAT at the recipient's end, and give us realistic per-line values so the assessment is made on your figures rather than someone else's.

Questions we get on this route

What will it cost?

Shipment by shipment. Destination, weight, contents — three inputs, one real figure. Nothing on this page is a per-kilo estimate, because we have no card to base one on.

Will my recipient have to pay duty?

Not if the consignment's customs value falls under Thailand's low-value threshold, long set at THB 1,500 CIF — those clear free of duty and VAT. Above it, import duty at the applicable tariff plus 7% VAT is payable by the recipient on arrival.

Can I send a vape to someone in Thailand?

No. Thailand prohibits the import of e-cigarettes, vaping devices, e-liquids and their parts outright. We will not book them, and a parcel containing one is liable to be seized rather than returned.

Can I send medicine?

Yes, within reason. Keep it to what one person would plausibly use, leave it in the manufacturer's labelled packaging, and put the prescription in with it. Supplements are Thai FDA territory, and a bulk quantity gets treated as a commercial import needing registration.
