Job relocation within India
Two or three cartons of clothes, books and kitchen basics going ahead of you while the suitcase flies with you.
Moving cities for a job, leaving a hostel, sending a household ahead of you. Baggage is boxes of dense, unhurried, low-value-per-kilo belongings, and that is exactly the shipment surface cargo is priced for.
Almost everything people call excess baggage has the same profile: heavy, bulky, not urgent, and worth far less per kilo than the things that normally go by courier. Priced correctly, it is the cheapest freight we book.
Domestically, baggage goes surface and the numbers get good fast. Fifty kilograms is ₹4,322 to the rest of Karnataka, ₹5,186 across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Goa, ₹6,339 to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, and ₹8,072 to most of the rest of India. That last figure is ₹161 a kilo; the southern one is ₹104. The same 50 kg on the air tier to most of India is ₹12,962, and it will not arrive meaningfully sooner than a week.
Volume, not weight, is what usually costs you. Billed weight is whichever is greater — actual, or length × width × height in cm ÷ 5000. A 40 × 30 × 30 cm carton is 7.2 kg volumetric before anything goes in it, and bedding and winter clothes will not come close to filling that. Compress and roll clothing, and mix the dense things through the same cartons: books and utensils bill on actual weight and absorb the empty space linen would otherwise be charged for.
Domestic transit runs three to four days to the southern states and five to eight across most of India — the rate page has the slab and volumetric rules in full, and each destination page carries its own ladder.
Surface cargo rates for the two slabs baggage usually lands in. Lighter loads follow the same ladder down to a 3 kg minimum.

GST included. Beyond 50 kg the load is split across boxes and each is billed on its own slab, so the per-kilo rate holds. International baggage is quoted per consignment — we hold no published overseas rate card.
Two or three cartons of clothes, books and kitchen basics going ahead of you while the suitcase flies with you.
End of term or end of a contract, sending everything home instead of paying to store it. Usually the 25 kg slab.
A family moving in stages, dispatching non-essentials over several weeks so the flat is liveable on arrival.
Getting everything to the family home or the port city before departure. The overseas leg is quoted separately.
By surface: ₹4,322 to the rest of Karnataka, ₹5,186 across the southern states, ₹6,339 to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, ₹8,072 to most of India, ₹11,237 to the north-east and J&K. All GST-inclusive, and all well below the air tier for the same weight.
Keep each carton to a weight two people can lift, and pack it tight — several dense medium boxes cost less than one loose large one, because each is billed on volume where volume exceeds actual weight. We weigh and measure at pickup and confirm the chargeable figure before anything leaves.
Yes, through DTDC's overseas network — but we hold no published international rate card, so each consignment is quoted once we know the destination, weight, box count and contents. Customs documentation, KYC and an itemised invoice are required. Customs treatment of used personal effects differs by country and we cannot advise on the rules at your destination.
No. Liquids, oils, gels, aerosols and perfumes are prohibited on every lane we book. Buy them at the other end — it is cheaper than the freight on them anyway.
No. This is boxes on the courier network. Furniture, mattresses and whitegoods need a truck and a crew — see packers and movers. If it fits in cartons and totals under about 50 kg, baggage by surface is the cheaper answer.
Tell us roughly how many boxes and where they are going. We will bring cartons, weigh everything at your door and quote off the card.
