There is no separate food rate and no surcharge for perishable contents. A box of sweets is billed like a box of anything else: by destination zone and weight slab. One kilogram is ₹196 to the rest of Karnataka, ₹236 across the southern states, ₹363 to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata and ₹415 to the rest of India; a 3 kg festival box is ₹380, ₹519, ₹657 and ₹830 on those same lanes, GST included.
Dry and sealed is the whole rule. Liquids, syrups, oils, gels and aerosols are prohibited on every lane we book, which rules out oil- and brine-packed pickles, ghee, chutneys, sauces and anything that can weep through a seam. Nothing needing a cold chain is accepted either — no fresh, chilled or frozen items, no dairy, no khoya-based sweets. Sealed dry food and packaged snacks in original packaging are fine and travel well.
Choose the tier by shelf life, not by price. This is the one service where surface cargo is usually wrong even though it is cheaper: three to four days to the southern states and five to eight across most of India, and few homemade items are at their best after that. Standard clears Karnataka and the metros in one to two days and the south in two to three, for a few hundred rupees more on a 3 kg box. Pay it.
Pack against volume as well as breakage. Namkeen and puffed snacks are light and bulky, and billed weight is whichever is greater — actual, or length × width × height in cm ÷ 5000. A 40 × 30 × 30 cm carton bills at 7.2 kg even if the snacks inside weigh two. Decant into rigid airtight containers, fill the voids and use the smallest box that holds the contents without crushing them. The rate page has the full rules.

Not if it is packed in oil or brine, which almost all pickle is. Liquids and oils are prohibited on every lane and DTDC will not accept them, so neither can we. Dry masala and instant mixes are a good substitute in a care pack.
That depends on the item and the tier. Standard reaches Karnataka and the metros in one to two days and the southern states in two to three, which suits most dry sweets. Do not use surface for food — five to eight days across most of India is longer than a homemade item should sit in a box.
Rigid airtight containers rather than bags, layers separated, and every void in the outer carton filled so nothing moves. Keep the outer box small — a loose big carton is billed on its volume. We will do all of this at pickup.
Yes, and not only the price. We hold no published international rate card, so those are quoted per consignment. Only sealed, dry, clearly labelled food is worth attempting, an itemised invoice and KYC are required, and food import rules differ sharply by country — check what your destination permits before you cook.
