A refill for a parent in another city, a month's maintenance medication, an ayurvedic or homeopathy course. We book solid dosage forms in their original sealed packaging with the prescription attached — and we are direct about the large category we cannot carry at all.
Medicine shipments are usually small, repeat, and time-sensitive in a specific way: the patient runs out on a known date. Weight is rarely the issue.
Almost every medicine pack is under a kilogram, so it pays the 1 kg parcel slab. That is ₹150 within Bangalore, ₹196 to the rest of Karnataka, ₹236 across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Goa, ₹363 to Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, ₹415 to NCR and the rest of India, and ₹553 to the north-east and J&K. GST included. There is no smaller slab, so a 200 g box of strips costs exactly what a 1 kg one does.
Do not book medicine on surface. It is the cheap tier only from 3 kg up, and a month of tablets is nowhere near that — surface to most of India is ₹484 for the first 3 kg against ₹415 on Standard, so it is dearer and several days slower. Standard is the right answer on every lane. If the patient is genuinely about to run out, Premium is ₹576 across the south and ₹709 to Delhi and NCR, where it is next day.
The exclusions are broad and we would rather you knew now. Liquids, oils and gels are prohibited on every lane, so cough syrups, tonics, ayurvedic oils, drops, ointments and creams cannot go — domestically as much as internationally, without exception. Nothing needing a cold chain is accepted, ruling out insulin, vaccines and refrigerated biologics, and narcotics, psychotropics and Schedule H and X drugs are not carried. What is left — tablets, capsules, dry powders and churnas, homeopathy globules and sealed supplements — covers most of what people actually need to send.
Medicine is billed on the ordinary parcel card. Nearly every pack falls in the 1 kg slab, which is the smallest one sold.

A legible copy of the prescription travels with allopathic prescription medicine; ayurvedic, homeopathy and over-the-counter items generally do not need one. Nothing on the Schedule H or Schedule X list is carried at all. There is no cold chain on this network, so insulin, vaccines and refrigerated biologics cannot go either.
We book internationally through DTDC's overseas network and quote each consignment individually, holding no published international rate card. Separately, most countries restrict importing medicine by post — we are not qualified to advise on your destination's rules and you should confirm them before booking.
